Doc Talk: Get to Know Viet Pham, MD

Meet Viet Pham, MD

Dr. Pham sees adults and children for all ear, nose, and throat issues with a particular emphasis on providing comprehensive otolaryngological care with a personal passion for patient education and promoting patient autonomy. He joined The ENT & Allergy Centers of Texas in January and is providing care at the Carrollton and Plano locations.

What inspired you to become an Otolaryngologist?

I’m drawn to otolaryngology because it’s a field that involves diverse and unique anatomy with treatment that incorporates both medical management and procedural-based endeavors that’s applicable for all patient demographics. I find these unique aspects to the field mentally stimulating.

What excites you about your field of work?

I get paid to pick boogers and ear wax! In all seriousness, the inherent variety with otolaryngology means it’s always a new adventure each day with new challenges, but hopefully all ending with resolving patients’ ailments one way or another.

What are some unique and different skills you have?

I play the guitar with a preference for Luke Combs’ slow songs, I’m the worst karaoke singer ever, I can barbecue some of the best dry rub chicken wings north of Highway 380, and I used to be a pretty good ultimate frisbee player.

What do you do in your spare time?

I’m always in search of discovering new restaurants of any cuisine as long as it’s delicious. If I had more free time, I would do the same thing but in the setting of traveling to different places, domestic or international.

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?

I can’t go a single day without poking my sulcata tortoise, Derpie.
