Rock in Style with Custom Ear Molds

Your ears are custom made just for you, so should your headphones
Anyone who has used “stock” earbuds knows how uncomfortable they can become after prolonged use. How are you supposed to enjoy listening to your favorite music while your ears are throbbing in pain? The answer is a set of custom listening molds. These molds are personally shaped for your ears in a Westone lab that has been perfecting earmolds for over 50 years.
The custom listening trend began with affordable colorful molds that “snap” onto the stock earbuds and has continued into the slightly more expensive hardwired molds. The custom nature of these molds allows for your ears to be blocked from ambient noise. While they are not using active sound cancelling, they certainly are sound dampening. Even better, the sound from your MP3 device is directly funneled into your ear canal allowing you to hear more clearly even while listening at a lower volume level. The decrease in listening volume is an important benefit for your long-term hearing health. For more information on recreational noise induced hearing loss, please check out this webpage.

Both types of earmolds are equally comfortable, and both require the same amount of time to make. To have a set made for yourself, schedule an appointment with our Audiologist for impressions of your ears. They only take about 15 minutes to make. Once impressions are taken, they are sent to Westone where your custom molds are prepared in approximately two weeks.
For live music enjoyment a custom set of filtered plugs would be ideal. Unlike a traditional plug, these filters can provide listening comfort while maintaining the frequency response of incoming sounds. These filters are available in three suppression levels so that you can choose how much of a reduction you would like. The filters are also interchangeable for your convenience. And for those of you that want to have a lot of color, well, that’s entirely customizable too.
